Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I can’t tell you unfortunately, it’s part of the entire staircase. It costs about 4500 euros.

This is a wooden stringer staircase with the steps mounted on top.

The whole staircase costs only 4500 euros? Is it from Poland? Normally, you’d easily spend 10,000, more like 15,000, including the railing. That’s impressive.

I forgot that the 4500 EUR was the additional cost for the standard staircase. This would have been a steel two-stringer staircase without risers.

What type of wood is this and what kind of finish does it have?

The steps are made of finger-jointed oak, oiled.

I wouldn’t have expected oak.
We used block-glued oak with a raw wood effect varnish, Jordan PUR, matte finish. It looks much lighter.

10,000 to 15,000 euros? Now that’s what I call crazy! Crazy expensive.
We’re talking about a straight staircase.

The railing, like the one shown by KingSong, was offered by a metalworker at 230€/m (net) (offer available). You’d need 5 meters (about 16 feet) of it. Glass would definitely be more expensive.
A cast-in-place concrete staircase would have cost around 3,000 euros, but then you’d still need a finish of your choice on top.
A fair-faced concrete staircase is 4,800 euros, including impregnation, delivery by crane truck in protective packaging, and transport eye cover caps (filling would be cheaper).
A steel stringer staircase with beech would have been 3,500 euros, the stringer slightly more expensive. Oak would surely be pricier as well.
But nowhere near 10,000 euros. For that, you’d need glass railings and a natural stone finish.

10-15k€? That sounds intense! Seriously expensive.

Yes, if you choose a concrete staircase, you’re easily looking at 10,000-15,000€. Concrete staircase 3,000€ + 7,000€ for oak finish (including labor, template making, etc.) + about 5,000€ for the glass railing...
