Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

So, what exactly is your point again? It’s not envy, right? So what are you trying to say?! [emoji4]
I haven’t had any bad experiences so far. From what you say, it sounds different for you. Or is it about how much an expert charges? If that’s the case... well, no one is forcing you. If you’re not happy with the service in return, you don’t have to go for it.
Personally, I think about 1% of the construction cost is a good investment when you consider how expensive defects or similar issues can become. But everyone has to decide that for themselves.

Exactly, everyone has to decide for themselves, so just stay relaxed and don’t take it personally.

I didn’t understand what exactly there is to be envious of. Is it something special?

We are building with an architect; if I were uncertain, I would also bring in a building inspector or expert.

Is it just me, or do more readers wish that the debate about experts (in this thread) would end and that someone would simply post pictures of their house or construction site again?

Although not keeping a photo diary as thoroughly as some others, here are a few impressions of the progress from November until last week.
Currently, the interior finishing plaster is being applied. We plan to move in during the last week of June and are feeling optimistic...

Green open plot with trees and buildings in the background on a sunny day

Construction worker laying orange bricks on a white polystyrene foundation wall at a construction site

Construction site with foundation slab, stacked brick blocks, workers, yellow container

Brick building with open door, wet floor, red cable and blue sky in the background.

Unfinished brick wall construction site with wet floor, red hose and metal basket full of construction material.

Scaffolding around an orange brick building; yellow construction machinery arm in the foreground.

Two-story building in shell construction with orange bricks, scaffolding and tarps.

Trench in the concrete floor of a brick basement; broom and spade leaning against the wall.

Red heating pipes running along a wall under construction, installation materials visible.

Interior view: plastered left wall, brick wall on right, stove pipe, yellow bucket and tools.
