Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The floor has now been installed at an acquaintance's place. The expansion joints were not maintained; instead, they were chipped out and filled with synthetic resin.

Where the flooring changes to tile, a wide tapering layer of leveling compound was applied to avoid any edges.

The flooring changes beneath the door panel. A very fine silicone joint will be applied here.

Joe, if you apply the filler over a wide area, you end up with a floor that isn’t level over a large surface.
I think that’s much worse than having a small edge that only someone who is completely drunk would trip over—that would be a self-inflicted problem.
Yes, you could raise the entire screed in the vinyl rooms. But we didn’t consider that. So what? It is what it is. Otherwise, I think my brother and I did a pretty good job installing the planks. Everything is straight, level, and solid. Karsten

We will install a different curve, so it won’t be as deep.

With heavy rain, there might be a bit of gurgling at the last bend before the downpipe due to uneven flow velocity, but otherwise, it should be fine, I’d say.

The most important thing for the boards is always to have at least a hand's width of ground beneath the house.

I had read that resin filling should only be done with trowel cuts and that proper expansion joints need to be maintained in the flooring.

I’m also not sure if Joe explained that correctly. Filling the joints with epoxy makes no sense because then there would be no expansion or contraction at all—instead, the screed is more likely to crack if epoxy is used and it can’t flex. However, they might have used a tough elastic single-component polyurethane resin, which would make sense. We simply left the blue foam strip in place, trimmed it short, and sealed over it with silicone. We used glazing silicone because it adheres very well and is highly flexible. Karsten

Unfortunately, I am only the second point of contact. I just receive reports and can pass them on as they are.
I will also report on how it feels to walk on a slight incline and whether it is very noticeable.
I am also only familiar with expansion joints being carried over.
