At first, we were open to all options. Local masonry construction companies had no experience with passive houses and somewhat dismissed the idea. A timber frame would have required a gap from the wall or a masonry basement. We didn’t want that.
Then we visited Wir Leben Haus, and passive house construction was possible. In the basement, we also have timber walls on three sides. We felt understood and well taken care of there, so we stayed.
