Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@Tarnari The staircase to the attic is amazing! The closet and railing too!

That’s exactly how we wanted it as well, but the stair builder refused to make the quarter-turn so sharp at the corner because the tread depth on the inside of the turn would be too small (actually zero), which would make it uncomfortable and unsafe to use. For a secondary staircase like yours, I might have insisted, but ours is the main staircase from the ground floor to the upper floor... and what can I say? The guy was right! And I’m fine with the modified version (also visually):

Really a very beautiful staircase!
And yes, the “curve” by the stair closets is quite tricky. Until yesterday, our little one was also not allowed to go upstairs alone. Even though recently she has often ignored this.
Now, with the new railing, it works very well.

I'm currently thinking about my little climber... with the stair shelf at the back, I would be worried... it goes down quite deep.. Otherwise, great!
Fortunately, ours is not a little climber when you look at it that way. We often find it a pity, but in this case, it is probably rather reassuring.

Thanks for the photos – I think that’s a really great solution, and it immediately gets me thinking about how to furnish it *smile*
I would partially close off the top third to half of the staircase and create a lounge area on top. A perfect spot for reading and occasionally looking outside...

Really cool idea! I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for the great inspiration!

I have a question about the under-stair cabinets. I really like them. I wonder if they can also be fitted under a curved staircase (as of today, I am proud to own a staircase myself).

Bright wooden stairwell with metal rod railing; unfinished drywall, wooden floor.

Worker on wooden staircase during construction, tangled cables behind open door, drill on the floor.

Staircase with wooden handrail and metal rods in shell construction; two people at the handrail.

Estimated at about 300m² (3,230 sq ft) of flooring to be installed, roughly half done. Everything must be completed by the end of next week.

Renovation room with wooden floor; floor panels laid, unfinished walls, window front.

We also have internet (500/50 Mbps Vodafone Business), a stainless steel railing on the exterior stairs, and a heat pump.

Electrical distribution panel with cables, coaxial connections, grounding, and surge protection.

Large dark boiler in basement room with wooden beam ceiling and door handle on the right

Exterior metal staircase on white building facade, steps leading up, construction site surroundings in the background.

Currently, we work every day from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the office, then until around 7:00 p.m. (+/-) on the construction site. Saturdays are "of course" full days on site, but Sundays only "half" a day. Evenings usually involve some office work, as does Sunday afternoon 🙄. I’m really looking forward to finishing this… just 26 days left…

@Tarnari could you share how much the carpenter charged for the cabinets?
