That would be too risky for me; you always have to be very careful about where you reach. Then the restaurant industry is quite daring – that's where I got this from. I worked for a long time in commercial kitchens as a student. A magnetic knife strip is standard there. I’m more afraid of cutting myself rummaging through a drawer. People really are different *laugh*
Beauty – well. I didn’t find knife blocks very appealing either, and when I think about all the dirt that can accumulate at the base over time – that makes me appreciate the strip even more.

Beauty—well, not really. I didn’t like the knife blocks either, and when I think about the dirt that can accumulate at the bottom over time, I actually prefer the rail even more. Our knife block is open at the bottom, and we only put clean knives in there 🙂
Sure, clean knives – but the dust, some crumbs that don’t stick to the knife but somehow manage to get into the block anyway.
Our blocks had a removable and washable interior. And even though we only put clean knives in there, it was surprising how much residue built up over just a few months...

We do not have handrails. They are planned to be installed two years after moving in, during the winter. This was intentional. The children have not fallen.
Honestly, whether it’s plexiglass, glass, or something else, if children want to climb, it won’t stop them. They will use aids like stools.

What @evelinoz means: First, you end up with your favorite knives, which usually amounts to 4-5 for two hosts (maybe plus 2 paring knives or peelers); second, the set doesn’t really give a harmonious impression, but rather feels aggressive, sharp, and dangerous; third, it’s cumbersome to handle. Tip: sort out the knives, store them in a drawer, and use the magnetic block for something else.
