Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@benediktr Can you tell me more about your shed roof? We are planning something similar. What is the roof construction like? Do you have an external roof insulation? How wide are your roof overhangs? Thanks in advance 🙂

Sure. The top floor ceiling is made of concrete and insulated with PUR boards. The roof structure is designed as a cold roof with the following layers:

20 cm (8 inches) concrete ceiling
Vapor barrier (due to residual moisture in the concrete)
16 cm (6 inches) PUR boards, aluminum foil on both sides (thermal conductivity 0.023 W/mK)
20 cm (8 inches) rafters (flush with gable walls)
6 cm (2.4 inches) battens (the roof overhang is not created by the rafters but by the battens)
28 mm (1.1 inches) sheathing
Breathable roofing membrane
Aluminum standing seam metal roof in dark gray / RAL 703

The underside is currently only primed white and will later be adjusted to the plaster finish. The roof overhang measures 40 cm (16 inches).

That's true 🙂. For example, we have an LED strip above the bathtub. My daughter (2) loves it and always asks for green :p

The silicone seals are still missing here. The bathroom wasn’t completely finished yet.
Did you also save on the size of the bathtub? What are its dimensions?

It should be around 175x80 cm (69x31 inches) or so. We deliberately chose a slightly smaller size because our last one was too long for us.

We did the same. Based on many other people's and our own experience. If you want to lie properly inside, you usually have to stick your feet out at the end anyway. But if you want to read inside, even 10cm (4 inches) longer makes you slide down, and you end up constantly trying to push yourself back up.

Exactly. And the tub is also quite deep, so you finally get properly covered with water 😀

So for me, my backside sticks after a few seconds, then I don’t slide anymore :p
