Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Somehow, considering the costs for garages, additional construction expenses, and outdoor facilities that I often see here, our developer price doesn’t seem that expensive anymore. Everything was included, and you had to pay everything upfront.

The fact is, a solar power system is necessary. And when I see how skilled some people here are with electronics, I assume their gardening skills are less developed, smile. So, either solar power or paying.
Otherwise, it’s always said here as well, don’t forget the additional building costs (Baunebenkosten).

I agree with that; the paving, entrance, terrace, and level ground need to be in place right from the start. Anyone can take care of the lawn themselves. I don’t want to be surrounded by a moonscape for 2–3 years—otherwise, I might as well shower the kids every day and replace the flooring after a year. It’s already enough that there’s no privacy screening—waiting for a hedge to grow will be tedious enough.

But since we already live in a house with a tiny garden, we don’t want to make things worse, especially not for years.

So, I have now included the pathways in front of the house, the driveway, and the fence in the calculations. The garden itself will have to wait.

But these are exactly the things you can take your time with.

Phew, no craters, please, and no pallets stacked up in front of the house...

Actually, this is more civil engineering (splash protection strip, paving work), not landscaping or garden construction (GALA construction). Creating the garden itself is already fun enough.

I also believe that the driveway, entrance, and terrace should be completed. For simple plots, I would probably try to operate the mini excavator myself. But only because driving an excavator is fun.
With a slope and so on... Never. That has to be included in the budget.
