Hello,

could you please upload the pictures in a larger size? By the way, the terrace direction is only partly related to the ridge orientation.

Best regards

I also considered an east-facing orientation, and then placing a second seating area somewhere in the sunny garden.
We don’t want to build over the entire plot, so we are looking for a solution that leaves as much open space as possible to the east/south towards the large garden of the (already known friendly neighbors).
Therefore, a house located on the pathway would be less ideal. South-facing could work, but it depends on the construction plans of the as-yet unknown neighbor on the pathway. We want to avoid having our house overshadowed by their building, as that would negate the benefits of a south orientation, and in that case, we could have just gone with an east-facing design from the start.

Sorry, the autocorrect messed up a few things.
It should be "seat" and "vest."

Thanks, I wouldn’t have thought of "sitzenließ" so quickly

I have now created a separate topic to continue discussing this further here https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/fragen-zu-Neubau-Ausrichtung-Haus-nordgrundstueck.28853/

Note: Never position a terrace facing west.

??? Why not?
Never position a terrace facing south. We have a south-facing terrace – it also has its disadvantages.
