Hello,
could you please upload the pictures in a larger size? By the way, the terrace direction is only partly related to the ridge orientation.
Best regards
Michael

Utility room on the aesthetically pleasing side? No way.
I immediately liked the first version... the floor plans add to that! Nice front courtyard, which can be visually separated from the terrace in a pleasant way... you will also have sun on the south-facing terrace in the evening. You will need roller shutters on the south side anyway for sun protection...

Regarding the floor plan:
... Hello Michael, please note: the floor plan is merely a copy of the original by the OP, so it may not be suitable for critique.

Hello,
First of all, thank you for your suggestions. Access from the east is not possible. There is a dry ditch there, and behind it is an older residential area. Access from the southwest is the only option.
We now have floor plans from various builders, and the room dimensions differ slightly. This upload was an initial draft. I will scan the builders’ drafts tomorrow.
The double casement window in the bathroom is my preference. Lying in the bathtub and looking at the sky...
We have also considered a terrace in the southeast, but what about the evening sun then? During the day, both of us are not at home.
We will think about swapping the utility room with the guest WC and possibly sketch that out. In one of the builders’ drafts, the corner between the living room and guest room is large enough for a wardrobe.
In the living room, the dining table is planned to be in front of the large terrace door in the bay window. We have a wall unit that will need to stay for now. It should go on the wall towards the guest room. A sofa corner will be placed in front of it. On the wall towards the kitchen, there will be a large bookshelf, possibly covering the entire wall.
The door in the bedroom is drawn a bit oddly. The wardrobe should go on the side towards the children's room.
Regards

Our house is planned to be a one-and-a-half-story house with three gables.

Regards, BauexperteIf you want to call it that way, okay. I count 3 gables.
Hello, I am currently facing the same problem (driveway from the southwest direction). How did you decide back then? South or west orientation? Did you regret it?
I am even considering a north orientation now, to avoid having the entrance on the gable side and the resulting narrow, corridor-like layout of the kitchen/dining room/living room.
