Hello everyone,
Next week is the big day for us, and we will receive the handover of our house. The interior work is completely finished. Now my question is how I should prepare for this and what I need to pay attention to. I couldn’t really find a thread about this.
Does anyone have tips or even experience? It’s a prefabricated house from a well-known manufacturer.
Thanks and best regards

I would simply like to know what to watch out for with a completely finished house. Are the windows sealed properly, and so on.Your house has surely undergone a blower door test. The windows should be sealed properly then. I would focus on the appearance, functionality, as well as any scratches and dents. Take a close look at everything.
Make sure to bring someone along for support — two pairs of eyes see more than one. After all, you’ll be signing off on everything in the end.
Before checking for defects, first verify that everything you ordered is present and installed correctly. For example, our neighbors were missing some small items, like the outdoor water tap.
Also inspect the gutters. Often, installers leave dents that can lead to rust later on.
Are the ridge tiles not just laid but also properly fixed? And so on.
Most points have already been mentioned.
- Maybe pay attention to scratches on the windows. We had a few panes that got a trowel mark from the plasterer.
- Check the tiles if that matters to you. We found three tiny chips afterward that we didn’t notice during the final inspection. They are hardly visible.
- Test all sockets and light switches. In our case, an entire room had no power.
- Make sure the heating, ventilation, water connections, and all faucets are working properly. Check that hot water comes out where it should.
- Do the doors close flush? Are there any gaps, and do they all open and close easily?
- Look for scratches or dents on any surfaces.
- Check if all roller shutters, awnings, etc., are functioning.
