Hello everyone,

we have some rather unattractive tiles on the lower part of the facade of our house. Does anyone have experience with painting these? What types of paint are suitable for this?

Kind regards

Exterior view of a house: white wall, brown brick cladding, windows with iron bars, plant pots.

The tiles are really amazing

You often see houses where those incredibly ugly yellow or light brown facing bricks have been painted over. It’s still not a highlight afterwards, but definitely much better... For exterior work like this, I wouldn’t go to a big-box store, better to check with a trusted specialist store... (I know, not a very helpful answer).

Hm, whether a hardware store or a specialist retailer... it depends on the price. I once browsed on Amazon and found baseboard paint from "wilckens," which consistently has good reviews. It seems quite suitable to me....

Go to a specialized retailer! Their products don’t have to be more expensive, you can check the durability (manufacture date) directly there, the storage is professional, and you will receive expert advice on surface preparation for free.

Just ask at the home improvement store if they have tile colors suitable for outdoor use.

No! Hardware stores are not specialist retailers!

If they have any, that’s fine. It’s not like it’s some kind of science.
There are also plasters that adhere to tiles. But whether that applies to outdoor use as well...
