Good evening everyone,
We are currently planning the exterior design of our house and would appreciate advice from those with building experience 🙂
How did you approach the color scheme for the outside? For example, the roof tile color, window frames, front door, garage door, and so on?
There is always the option to choose RAL colors... Has anyone done this, or how did you coordinate your colors?
(PS: Our house will be white, and the tiles/windows/front door, etc., will be in a dark gray/light black tone...)
Thanks in advance for your opinions!
Kind regards

For us, it was quite straightforward.
We didn’t want red bricks, so we chose the standard gray ones.
We didn’t like just having the window frames wrapped; the total cost including roller shutter tracks and so on was already five figures. Also, we found out that dark window frames heat up more and take longer to cool down – so we went with white.
We didn’t like a white front door, so we chose anthracite.
We didn’t want a white facade either, so we went with gray—not too light, not too dark.
That was it. The entrance area is green, as a nod to the previous building.
I wanted the roof overhang in white, but we were advised against it because it faces a main road and white gets dirty quickly, so we went with a very light gray.
White and anthracite is fairly rare here. White and green, white and wood, and a new build has cappuccino/chocolate brown. My cousin’s neighborhood has only white and anthracite. The parapet is the same, the paving is the same, and it feels like the same landscaping company—pretty monotonous.

You forgot the anthracite-colored welded mesh fence. 😉Gabions!K1300S schrieb:
With maize yellow, the foil is probably already brittle coming from storage due to the long shelf life before being used infrequently. You are partly right if you took my color example too literally. However, there are also commonly produced bright colors like red (Sparkasse), light blue (Aral), or dark blue (Lidl), for example. The window fabricators regularly receive large non-white orders, whose “leftovers” are enough for several single-family homes. So, when requesting quotes, you obviously cannot just say “maize yellow,” because the chance of availability is low and in many cases it would end up being a custom color anyway. But you can ask for a color from the “menu” of available shades instead of white or anthracite. Perhaps the fabricator currently has an order from the insurance company Provinzial and offers you a dark grass green. That way, despite your house having white render, it won’t be yet another typical anthracite-framed house in the development.
