Hello,
we are currently in the final phase of our construction (painting work).
We have now discovered a horizontal crack in the plaster. Length about 1.20 m (4 feet). Please see the attached photo for the width. Is this crack concerning?
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards

@Nadini89: Have you already spoken with your contacts? What do they say?

When there are cracks in the walls, it usually means that savings were made on the foundation and ceilings. This is common with general contractors (GCs).

Thanks in advance for the many responses. What would you recommend then? Simply filling later with acrylic and repainting, or using joint compound? Or should mesh tape be applied and embedded over every crack afterwards?

Just fill small gaps with paint, otherwise use textured acrylic and that’s fine.

First, wait a few years until the cracking has stopped. Then you can decide what is necessary.
But please do not fill with acrylic. Simply fill neatly with filler, sand, and paint.
Alternatively, take the opportunity to redecorate by applying new wallpaper, a painting fleece, or a decorative plaster finish.

Or use the opportunity to retape, apply fiberglass wallpaper, or add a decorative plaster finish.

Sorry, but what are you talking about? Did you even look at the picture? Retaping or decorative plaster are... interesting suggestions.

And why shouldn’t cracks be filled with acrylic? I'm really curious now!
