ᐅ Hiding Garbage Bins – What Are the Options?

Hello everyone,

Our house is almost ready to move into, so now we’re planning the garden. I’ve been looking for a way to hide the trash bins for a while, as I don’t find them very attractive standing out in the driveway. We have a 240-liter (63 gallons) organic waste bin, a 240-liter (63 gallons) paper recycling bin, a 120-liter (32 gallons) general waste bin, and also the yellow recycling bag. I have searched a lot online for bin storage boxes, but nothing has really impressed me so far. Especially since most options cost well over 1000 euros. Maybe I’m wrong, but at the moment, I think there must be something more affordable?

Ideally, we’d like a solution that can be integrated into the garden fence or wall. Unfortunately, the driveway isn’t flat but slopes slightly uphill. It’s really only a small incline, but it might already rule out cabinet-style solutions. I read in one article that the unit needs to be placed on level ground.

I’m still waiting to see if the landscape gardener has any ideas. Otherwise, I’ve considered putting up a bike shed in the front yard that could also fit the trash bins. But that would probably require a building permit / planning permission due to its size…

My biggest dream is also a parcel box integrated into the trash bin enclosure.

Long story short: How have you solved this?

I agree with the opinion on the requirements profile 🙂

Unfortunately, this often conflicts with the aesthetic requirements, especially if the bins have to be placed in front of the house and/or entrance. It seems the only option is to look for temporary solutions until the hedge in the front yard has grown enough to hide the bins behind it properly!?

Hi, I’m joining this forum thread because maybe you have a good idea on how to hide the trash bins (yes, one is currently missing) here.

In spring, before new shoots grow, the zebra grass is cut back, and then the natural screen disappears. The side is also open. Something should go there that fits the overall look.

A standard solution doesn’t work here because I only have access from the side, and most of the time the bins are emptied through the window.

I have considered replacing the granite palisades with taller ones and then closing it off with wood, but that seemed like too much work.

My partner is persistent and wants something in place at last, but I’m currently unsure what would fit here.

I’m really hoping for your ideas.

Thanks in advance.
