We are currently planning our kitchen and want to have a "pass-through cabinet" leading to the hidden pantry behind it.
The pantry will need space for a fridge and freezer. The question is, how wide does the pass-through cabinet need to be? Is 60cm (24 inches) enough?
The kitchen planners are recommending 2 x 50cm (2 x 20 inches). I think that's excessive. Are there any practical experiences with this?

Refrigerators typically start at a depth of 56cm (22 inches), but this already limits your options. Depending on what you want (for example, a side-by-side model), you will need more space, particularly in depth. Also, you don’t want to constantly have to walk sideways through such a passageway, especially since you will use it frequently, right? I would recommend a minimum passage width of 80cm (31 inches).
60 cm (24 inches) is also the typical planned width for a standard door in such a passage. The actual clear opening is likely to be even narrower.
I would probably try to arrange the pantry access without a hidden entrance from the kitchen, but possibly with access from the hallway instead. This is because the hallway often serves as a central spot for vacuum cleaners, mops, and other items needed on that floor.
For the price of the hidden kitchen entrance, you could instead invest in a nice tall cabinet with internal pull-outs for pantry storage directly in the kitchen.

Which manufacturer was offered to you? We were told that, for example, Häcker, Schüller, Nolte, and Ballerina also offer 80cm (31.5 inches) widths, including base cabinets. Let’s take, for example, the island.
