we now have a big problem. We submitted a building permit / planning permission application, and during the process it was pointed out that a second escape route on the upper floor would not work at the back of the house. So I told the architect to simply designate the windows at the front as the second escape route. Now the building permit has been approved, and the shock is big. The architect simply enlarged the windows on the front facade of the house. The opening was previously 90 x 220cm (35 x 87 inches), now the window opening and all others are 113cm (44 inches) wide. This extra 23cm (9 inches) completely changes the appearance of the house front and also fits worse with the interior rooms.
Apparently, you need an opening of 90 x 120cm (35 x 47 inches) clear as an escape route in North Rhine-Westphalia.
What does that mean exactly, and what would be the minimum size for a window opening in the wall? I can hardly imagine that the frame itself takes up 23cm (9 inches).
What do you think?
Best regards
Simon

Major problems that cause shock during construction look quite different—it's not about missing drawings, but rather about masonry issues 😉
Didn’t you have to sign off on the changes?
Anyway, there is certainly another solution; it just needs to be planned and approved again.
Just don’t get upset about things that need to be changed.
