Hello hardworking craftsmen,
I hope you can help me:
My basement (watertight concrete, about 60sqm (645 sq ft), 2 steel windows, core drilling, floating screed, walls of watertight concrete and masonry (inside), reinforced concrete ceiling) is still in a very basic condition. The gas heating system is located in the basement.
Now the basement is to be renovated:
White walls, floor (tiles or laminate?), and then a few partition walls and of course light, light, light (because hardly any light comes through the basement windows). I would like to replace the window with a glass window (possibly with ventilation??). A fan should be installed into the core drilling hole (next to the window). The ceiling also needs work (insulation??).
What is feasible? What is not? What would a rough estimate for the renovation cost be (I know, you have to assess the site and conditions… so just a rough idea, so I know if it’s even worth considering…). What should I pay attention to?
Which tradespeople should I contact? Drywall specialists in general or??
The basement is not intended to be used as a regular living space. At the moment, it’s one large room. I’d like to divide it (lightweight construction, whatever method…).
The goal:
One larger room (where the heating system will be) to be used as a hobby or playroom (there will also be a radiator). Then a small room for things rarely used. One room for the washing machine and dryer – connections are available – and possibly one more room for storage.
Who is best to contact for my project, someone who can advise across different trades or give useful tips?
Plan:
Radiators (heating engineer)
Painting/plastering walls and ceiling, building partition walls (all drywall specialists??)
Installing fan (heating engineer? drywall specialist?)
Replacing windows (window installer)
Flooring (tile setter or laminate installer)
Or does someone else need to be involved?
