Good morning house building forum and everyone,
I’m new here and also just starting the preliminary planning as a future homeowner.
As you could read in the subject, I have a general question about heating systems. We have already had several discussions with different prefab home companies (Streif Haus, Fingerhaus, Schwabenhaus, etc.). In all these conversations, we hoped to get clarity on which system would be the better heating option.
We would like to clarify the following areas:
- Economic aspects
- Ecological impact
- Sustainability (durability of the appliances and similar factors)
- Heating performance
- Additional costs for cooling in summer
(All systems were offered to us with underfloor heating.)
Unfortunately, we’re even more confused now, hence the request here in the forum.
(Of course, we also hope for a bit more “honesty” here... after all, these companies want to make their money.)
PS: The house to be built should be at least a KfW 55 standard, ideally a KfW 40.
Many thanks in advance for reading.
Best regards,
Datin

The mechanical ventilation system circulates this much air:

However, to achieve a noticeable cooling effect, you need to move this much air:

Therefore: Mechanical ventilation is not suitable for cooling purposes... even if the air coming out of the vents were cool, it would warm up again long before reaching objects or people inside the house.

Actually, Mycraft has already answered almost everything for me.
Thanks again for that, but if other users would like to share their experiences as well ... feel free to add your information.

For us, the drilling costs were significantly higher than the "recommendation" from Bafa and LBEG. However, district heating and gas connection wouldn’t have been that much cheaper than drilling plus a heat pump.Hi BeHaElJa,
thank you for your information. Am I correct in assuming that you heat your house with geothermal energy? If so, what is your overall impression?
There isn’t much of a conclusion yet. It has only been running since February. The heating is working, and the consumption is acceptable.
The installation was somewhat challenging because none of the contractors we contacted seemed to be really familiar with it. All were specialized in gas...
