Hello,

we want to install laminate flooring throughout the attic except for the bathroom.
The general contractor now wants to know the height of the flooring material to adjust the screed accordingly.
The house has underfloor heating in all rooms!

Can anyone tell me what material thickness for laminate has proven suitable for underfloor heating?
Is the standard impact sound insulation also used with underfloor heating?

7-10mm (0.28-0.39 inches) depending on the type and impact sound insulation (can be used).

Hello Haus,

you definitely need an underlay that is specifically designed for underfloor heating when installing laminate flooring. These underlays have a very low thermal resistance value (e.g., less than 0.04 m2 K/W).

Laminate flooring comes in various thicknesses. I have heard that 7mm (about 0.28 inches) thickness is usually considered "cheap and low quality," and it is generally recommended to opt for 10mm to 13mm (about 0.39 to 0.51 inches) thickness. However, I am not entirely sure if this is accurate...

I am debating between 8-9mm laminate flooring and 2-3mm underlay for impact sound insulation. There are many good videos on this topic...
