Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding the height of patio doors in floor plans.
For example, it says 2.26 m (7 ft 5 in) wide and 2.26 m (7 ft 5 in) high.
Does the height of 2.26 m (7 ft 5 in) refer to the rough opening height or the finished dimension from the top edge of the finished floor?
Thanks in advance!

The floor plan usually shows the structural rough opening dimensions. In your case, this would be the height of the opening in the masonry. From this, the height of the floor construction is then subtracted.

… and possibly the roller shutter box

If this is not specified, unfortunately it is likely that the less favorable option is meant. In this case, you should get confirmation that it refers to the finished dimension (meaning from the top edge of the finished floor). Especially for the kitchen countertop, you will run into problems if you rely on hope instead of clarity. For the patio door, an effective height of 210 or 208 cm (83 or 82 inches) instead of the expected 226 cm (89 inches) is not a big issue unless you are very tall; for the countertop, it is more critical.

Of course, except for this worst-case scenario ;-)

It is not an unreasonable expectation on your part as the client to contractually fix a clear opening height for the patio door and a window sill height measured from the finished floor. Measurements without a clear reference point are as useless as their omission ;-)

Is there no abbreviation listed there? For example, ROK or something similar. Maybe you could quickly upload the plan? How high are your rooms? In our case, the cassette boxes for the venetian blinds are simply installed at the lower edge of the ceiling, which would correspond to a standard room height of 2.26m (7 feet 5 inches).
