ᐅ Height of the floor construction when glueing parquet flooring, with a thickness of 1.5 cm

Hello everyone,

We need to inform the builder about the height of our future floor construction so that this can be taken into account for the door frames and stairs. We are considering a parquet flooring with a thickness of 1.5cm (0.6 inches).

How thick is the adhesive usually? In other words, what "final height" should I provide to the builder?

Thanks for your help!

There should be no insulation underneath, otherwise most of the benefit of full-surface bonding is lost...
He probably meant impact sound insulation…
(I can’t think of anything else…)

Yes, exactly, that's how I understood it too. But that would be quite unusual with full-surface bonding, wouldn’t it? I had only heard of that with vinyl flooring and when trying to minimize the overall height.

Yes, it would be, but otherwise, I really don’t know where three or four millimeters (around 0.1 to 0.15 inches) would come from. Even three millimeters (around 0.1 inches) of adhesive insulates against heat, which is not desirable.

Assume a total thickness of 18mm (0.7 inches). This includes the parquet flooring plus the thin-bed adhesive (any leveling compound is not included).
For each door, there is the possibility to adjust the height by 2–3mm (0.08–0.12 inches).
Please disregard anything related to "insulation" mentioned earlier!
We are talking here about parquet installation, not impact sound insulation (under screeds)!
Best regards and good luck: KlaRa

In the meantime, I contacted another specialty store as well as a floor installer. They mentioned 1mm to a maximum of 1.5mm (0.04 to 0.06 inches), since the adhesive is compressed. I have now passed this information on to the staircase and door installers.
There are hundreds of entries about every little detail on Google. I really don’t understand why nothing can be found on this. This question should actually arise in several construction projects.

You found this forum, probably via GOOGLE.
And you received a technically sound answer. Not from GOOGLE, but in a specialist forum. From an expert.
Once again: the 1mm (0.04 inch) adhesive thickness you researched is not realistic in practice. That is too little.
On the other hand, you cannot reasonably "calculate" with 1 or 2mm (0.04 or 0.08 inch) across the surface. Use the 3mm (0.12 inch) I indicated, then also include the DIN 18202 tolerance limits for flatness deviations in your calculation.
The rest is adjusted by the door manufacturer.
