AllThumbs10 Oct 2021 21:26Hello everyone,
We need to inform the builder about the height of our future floor construction so that this can be taken into account for the door frames and stairs. We are considering a parquet flooring with a thickness of 1.5cm (0.6 inches).
How thick is the adhesive usually? In other words, what "final height" should I provide to the builder?
Thanks for your help!

It’s best to ask the flooring installer. Otherwise, the parquet is usually sanded after installation, so the adhesive doesn’t matter in the end… at least, that’s what our flooring installer says. We don’t have a flooring installer yet, as we were somewhat surprised by the question and the urgently needed answer. The parquet we chose comes with a factory-applied matte finish and will not be sanded after installation.
However, I will at least call the specialist store where we got the samples tomorrow. I had hoped to clarify this over the weekend.

@KlaRa Could you maybe help? From other posts, I gathered that this is exactly your area of expertise. 🙂

No way – at least not unless you add some insulation underneath. Do you mean it’s too thick? We would actually prefer something thinner because of the transition to the bathroom tiles.
I also tried to estimate based on the notched trowel used. The “teeth” are about 5mm (0.2 inches) high on average, but I have no idea how much of that remains once the adhesive is pressed down by the parquet.
There will be no insulation underneath; otherwise, the advantage of full-surface bonding would mostly be lost…
