ᐅ Hedge shaped like a spiral to conceal garbage bins

Since, like many others, I would like to hide my trash bins, I am considering planting a snail-shaped hedge with the bins placed in the middle. This way, they would only be visible when standing directly in front of them. What do you think of this idea?

Does anyone have experience with this?

(You might be familiar with the snail-shaped showers used in bathrooms. Something like that, but as an evergreen hedge.)

I haven’t calculated the required space yet, but I will let you know once the number of bins and their sizes are confirmed. I was inspired by “English mazes” and thought it would look nice if only the snail structure is visible, without seeing the trash bins. The entrance to the snail would then be near the floor-to-ceiling kitchen door. However, it seems I haven’t fully thought it through yet. While my husband imagines everything being far too small and that we have too little space, I see plenty of room everywhere for all kinds of “fancy extras” (if anyone still knows that expression). ;-) This is because my husband misses the former garage, workshop, basement, attic, and shed, whereas I’m happy to finally get rid of all those cluttered storage areas. 🙂

Personal touches are what truly make a house beautiful and comfortable to live in.
For us, it was important to have a short and direct path with the full tonnages to the street.
How do you know if in 10 years you will need 1, 3, 5, or 7 tons?

Although I am younger than you, I also know the word, though slightly altered as "Spirenzchen" (both seem to exist and be synonymous).

And check whether you have yellow bags or yellow bins. I would not store bags outside. They often get torn regularly.

I would do it like this (which doesn't mean that I actually will, since I don’t have that much space):

That’s also a good idea, I will think about that.

A short and straight path would also be possible for us, but I don’t like the look of it that much.
Regarding the number of bins in maybe 10 years, we will think about that later. The spiral solution doesn’t have to be permanent anyway. It’s just a hedge. ;-)

We have yellow bins. So far, it looks like we will have one gray bin for residual waste as required by law, one yellow bin for plastics, one blue bin for paper, and one organic waste bin. For the organic bin, I’m still considering replacing it with a rotary composter with two drums. I’m not sure yet. I definitely don’t want a compost heap. (I find those terrible, they ruin every garden. ;-) )

To save space, instead of planting a second row of hedges, you could install a privacy screen that can be covered with climbing plants, such as grapevines.
