April20139 Nov 2012 18:31Hello forum community,
Big problem!!!! I always thought our entrance area would be a heated space, but now the energy consultant says that the wall is too thin for that, and my husband says he knew from the beginning that it wouldn’t be heated!!!
However, I would really like it to be! What are the pros and cons? I think we could easily change the wall thickness, but am I being too picky? If it’s -15°C (5°F) outside, how cold would the entrance area be if we install only a glass door (as my husband wants) and the main entrance door is inside?
What do you think about the plans overall? We’re not going to change anything else anyway because we find it perfect, except maybe the entrance area. But I’d still like to hear your opinions...

Good luck

Bauexperte10 Nov 2012 09:59Hello,
In the plans, the wall thicknesses look the same—what exactly does your consultant mean? And why do you insist on heating a “buffer zone” like that? I would even consider leaving out the first door altogether.
Kind regards

But I really want it to be!

April201310 Nov 2012 21:12So the exterior wall is currently 24cm (9.5 inches)...
It will definitely be 36cm (14 inches) now.
I want this because otherwise you step right into the house from outside, and if I think about the kids jumping in with dripping wet snow suits and soaking the wooden floor!!! Oh my god... That’s just not acceptable. But I can’t expect my kids or guests to take off their shoes in the cold vestibule outside the house and then leave them there either, especially in freezing temperatures!!
