Hello,

we have a new heating system installed. Model Buderus Logamax. Due to various circumstances (illness, the COVID-19 pandemic, etc.), I unfortunately did not receive an introduction or instructions. Maybe someone here can help?

In the menu under "Heating," there are options for "Heating" and "Lowering" with a temperature set behind them (currently set to 22°C (72°F) for heating and 15°C (59°F) for lowering).

There seems to be an outdoor temperature sensor installed, as this value is shown in the info menu—for example, today it shows 15.5°C (60°F). There does apparently not appear to be a room temperature sensor, since this value is not displayed.

Now I am wondering: how does the heating system detect the room temperature? Because if I understood correctly, with "Heating" and "Lowering" I set the desired room temperature for day (heating from 6 a.m.) and night (lowering from 11 p.m.), right? But how does the system know when this temperature is reached?

The radiators don’t get properly warm, only lukewarm at most. All radiators have been bled. With the old oil heating system, they became very hot.

Best regards

Gas or Oil?

At first, it doesn’t matter how warm the radiators are; the key factor is whether the room reaches the desired temperature.

Otherwise, the "detection" is done through the heating curve and possibly through the flow or return temperature.

The new heating system is gas.

The heating system detects this via the return flow, meaning how much the water cools down on its way back compared to what is supplied to the room. The heating curve is probably set incorrectly.

Then the heating system does not register the room temperature at all in that sense.

It controls based on the outside temperature and the set heating curve.

Has a hydraulic balancing been carried out?

A thermal balancing will then be done by you.

That would be unusual; most heating systems with outdoor temperature controls operate solely based on the heating curve, outdoor temperature, and supply temperature.
