Hello, after about three quarters of a year, I finally received the offer for a maintenance contract for our heating system. It is an air-to-water heat pump. What is the general opinion in this forum regarding an annual maintenance contract, and what is the usual cost and what services should be included? The offer is now from the company that installed the heating system on behalf of the general contractor. Are there also options to inquire directly with the manufacturer?

Unless the power goes out or the circulation pump fails.
But in the first case, even the heating technician won’t help, and the second is probably too unlikely to worry about.

Oetzberger27 Sep 2021 07:11I only signed a maintenance contract because of the warranty; it will be canceled immediately once the warranty expires. I just need to make sure that the sludge trap is cleaned every few years.
What is the heating load of your house at minus 12°C (10°F) or at your design temperature? For new constructions, it’s usually between 3 and 7 kW. That’s equivalent to two to four portable electric heaters, which shouldn’t all be plugged into the same power strip. If you have a fireplace, heating is even easier.
And anyway, we all take cold showers ;-)

I think I'll have the maintenance done now and watch to see what gets done. Then I’ll decide how to proceed in the coming years. Apparently, not many people have signed maintenance contracts...
