Hello, we are currently considering where to install the heating manifold on the upper floor. Our concern is that the control valves may cause noise, so the manifold should not be built into a wall directly adjacent to, for example, the bedroom or children's rooms. What are your experiences with this?

Solution in our case: On the ground floor, inside the wall under the stairs; on the upper floor, mounted on the wall in the small utility room, since the adjacent room is a children’s bedroom.

Try to have the distribution box installed flush-mounted. It looks better under the stairs.

Alternatively, have a drywall (plasterboard) enclosure built around it. This will also create additional storage space in the utility room.

Alternatively, have a drywall framework built around it. This will provide additional storage space in the utility room.

Under the stairs on the ground floor, it is flush-mounted. Only in the upper utility room is it mounted on the wall behind the door, as the adjacent room is the bedroom.

Unfortunately, we had no choice but to position it in the bedroom after all.

You don’t hear anything from it there (I am very sensitive to noise, to the point of having sleep disturbances because of it).
The heat, as previously predicted, I can now confirm.

I have completely turned off the thermostat in the bedroom. After 4 days, it is still too warm for me to sleep comfortably (I don’t have a thermometer, but it’s around 23-24°C (73-75°F)?).

We have a controlled mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, and the room has an exhaust air vent, so it pulls warm air from the other rooms.

By now, the wardrobe is placed in front of it (which is not very practical if you want to adjust the flow rates (liters per minute) to supply one room more or less), and I believe this now provides better insulation and the temperature has dropped a bit (around 22°C (72°F)?).
Still, last night before sleeping, with the outside temperature close to 0°C (32°F), I opened the window to let in cool air.

This morning it was still comfortable (21°C (70°F)?).

The rest of the house is maintained around 22-23°C (72-73°F) (my wife would otherwise feel cold).

All in all, I would have preferred the distribution box to be “ugly” in the hallway, but there was no space there. Although, after moving in and no longer being so detail-oriented in the planning phase, the sight of a white hatch for the underfloor heating manifold doesn’t bother me anymore — it’s just part of it.
I’m more annoyed by the various marks and stains on the wallpaper, which I’ve already painted over three times, but as soon as I touch the wallpaper once, it gets dirty again. I should probably wash my hands more often.

In my case, both were there. Now, both are going into the storage room.

Hello Sven,

make sure your system is properly hydraulically balanced, then you shouldn’t hear any flow noise regardless of where the manifold is located.

The actuators operate so quietly that you definitely won’t hear anything from them.
