ᐅ Heating – One Thermostat Less – Same Price, Acceptable?

Hello,

quick question: The building inspection was completed a while ago, and we’ve been living in the house for some time now.

On the ground floor: there is a small hallway, guest bathroom, living room, and kitchen.

The living room and kitchen are open as one space. Since we removed the door from the small hallway to the large living room/kitchen area, the living room, kitchen, and hallway were treated as one combined room (for the plumbing contractor’s heating planning).

Therefore, we have only two thermostats on the ground floor: one in the guest bathroom and one for the living room/kitchen/hallway area (installed in the kitchen).

Our neighbors have an additional thermostat (in the hallway) because they still have a door between the hallway and the living room/kitchen. We do not.

The key question: Shouldn’t we have received a refund for this missing thermostat — including installation, materials, etc.? We can’t estimate how much that might amount to. If it’s not significant, that’s fine. But if it is, we would have liked an explanation for why a credit “got lost” here.

By the way, the plumbing contractor never asked us whether we wanted the thermostat omitted from the hallway; perhaps we would have preferred having a thermostat there after all, for flexibility (e.g., a sliding door added later).

In the contract (general contractor), it states: thermostats for each room with individual room control...

Thank you very much for your quick assessment!

It would be best to leave out all thermostats,

You can't really promote that as a cure-all.

I don't want to do without my thermostats, not even the one in the connected hallway.

There should be a credit, I would say 50 euros.
Less. It won’t be more than 20 euros. However, since it’s often mixed calculations, I don’t see much chance of getting anything at all. The effort is not worth it.
