Hello everyone,

During a trip through the Ruhr area, we looked at some fireplaces from Hark and quickly found one we liked.

We decided on a marble fireplace model 1/187. Through a friend who built a house a few years ago, I learned that you can assemble such a fireplace yourself and save the installation costs.

Now the fireplace has been delivered, and we are facing the first challenges with the assembly.

The assembly instructions that came in the mailbox are not specifically related to our fireplace. All the instructions are generally for the Hark fireplace series. A call to Hark only resulted in being told to contact our customer advisor. We tried that, but unfortunately, the advisor has not been reachable for us.

Has anyone already purchased this type of fireplace and can help us with the assembly or possibly provide documentation?

Thanks in advance.

Our Hark stove (installed in the sold existing house) was assembled by a professional recommended by Hark. Cost: 175.00 € (about 190 USD), but that was four years ago.
The instructions available online simply didn’t fit, and they still don’t today. We recently experienced this when the new homeowner moved the stove away from the wall to tile behind it. Unfortunately, he completely disassembled it, and it took us two days of searching through online resources to figure it out.
Fortunately, it’s back together now thanks to a YouTube video.
Be brave.

Hello EveundGerd,

First of all, thank you for your reply.

It’s really interesting that you were able to have the fireplace installed for such a low cost. Hark quoted us a price in the three- to four-digit range. At the time, we wanted to save that money. If their offer had been closer to yours, we would have definitely hired them.

This morning, I was in contact with a Mr. K. from Hark. He seems knowledgeable. We’re now very curious about his answers, and he apparently wants to assist us during the installation, which I found very kind. Really shocking! When we purchased the fireplace, we were told that a detailed installation manual would be included. But what we received had nothing to do with our fireplace.

On YouTube, we only found the videos that are also on Hark’s website featuring Mr. Pütz. However, the installation is shown in a time-lapse, so it’s impossible to tell what steps need to be completed.

Not only was the assembly manual completely useless, but the short operating instructions were also worthless.

Unfortunately, our stove installer was not willing to explain the stove operation to us at the time. So we ended up reading a lot on our own and figuring out the rest by ourselves.

More than once, we opened all the windows wide. Conveniently, there was a large picture nearby that we used as a fan at first.

I admit, I will miss the very pleasant warmth, but definitely not the mess.

The stove installer was privately recommended to us by the salesperson, but we were billed for the service. Have you checked in your area if there is a stove installer who can install your stove for a small fee?
