Hello,

I am currently setting up my apartment and want to mount the TV on a wall. I drilled the first hole but I’m not sure if the wall plugs are suitable, as drilling was relatively easy.
Based on the drilling dust, it seems to be gypsum (see pictures). However, the wall does not sound hollow and is about 25cm (10 inches) deep. What material could this wall be made of? And will standard plastic wall plugs work in this type of wall?

Thanks and best regards

Aerated concrete/Ytong
There are special anchors available for this

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! I drilled some more holes and hit resistance in one of them. It sounds like stone or metal, but I’m not sure. Is that possible if it’s aerated concrete?
I’ve attached a photo. Sorry for the unclear questions—I’m not experienced and a bit overwhelmed.

No idea what else might be inside the walls or what it could be. Remote diagnoses need good input 😉
Maybe you should just ask your landlord what it is before you start drilling holes everywhere.

I already asked, but they don’t know either and I can’t get access to any installation plans.
The wall separates the living room and bedroom and runs perpendicular to the exterior wall. There are no radiators on this wall.
The resistance inside the hole feels like a different material. Since I had such a hard time getting through, I stopped drilling for now. The sound is different too. When I scrape or tap with a drill bit, it sounds like metal or very hard stone. The tone is sharp and goes through the entire wall.

Here is a video with sound to help visualize the whole situation better. In the hole on the right, just beneath the paint, there is a metal rod-like object.
