Hello everyone
We are planning the dining/cooking/living area, so I’m not sure if this is the right forum?
We have a 3.5-room apartment on the ground floor. We enjoy cooking, also for family and friends.
We have a space of 7.25 m x 7.10 m (24 ft x 23 ft 4 in) available.
Our requirements:
- A bar in the kitchen for 2 or more people
- Enough space to cook together with family and friends
- A dining table for 8 people
Attached you will find the floor plan. What would be your suggestions for the layout of the dining/cooking/living area?
I have attached the floor plan as a JPEG and a PDF; both are the same.
We already had 1-2 ideas, but they all had their weaknesses. Therefore, as a starting point, I removed all furniture from the floor plan to avoid any bias.
Additionally, due to the large open space, a support column will be needed. This can be placed relatively flexibly somewhere central, so I would like to first plan the dining/cooking/living area. The column can then be integrated where it makes the most sense (e.g., near a bar or kitchen corner).
What other information would be helpful?
Thanks in advance and best regards

I’m not exactly sure what bothers me, but having the layout viewed spontaneously wouldn’t appeal to me. I imagine furnishing the dining area, the living area, and the kitchen might be somewhat challenging.
The kitchen would probably be in the lower right, the dining area on the left, and the living area towards the bedrooms. It all seems quite open, in my opinion.

Additionally, a lot of information is missing, such as where water supply and drainage connections are possible throughout the building. What about storage space that you generally need, since there isn’t much room for wardrobes in the bedroom? How many people will be living there? Some details about people’s heights would also be useful, as significantly different heights might require work surfaces at varying levels. Please also specify the sill heights of the windows above the finished floor level, and so on.

I don’t think 5 doors from the web are a good idea. Also, the ventilation intake is located directly above the manure pit, which is not ideal.

I don’t like the five doors from the web design. Also, having the ventilation intake directly above the manure pit is not good. This is just an apartment. Otherwise, I would also say it’s a disaster with the open-plan space that also serves as a corridor to the bedroom/office/bathroom.
There isn’t much room for furniture since the exterior walls are mostly windows and there are hardly any interior walls available. More than a kitchenette can’t really be set up, unless you add drywall partitions.
This looks like student housing, not proper apartments. I hope you are tenants and can move to a different apartment. I would never want to live there.
