Hello everyone,

Our house, which has not yet been built and is about to start construction, will have a flat roof. The top layer will be made of rubber. According to the building specifications, a green roof is also possible, of course for an additional cost.

I did some research online and mostly found advantages, such as longer roof durability, environmental benefits, and reducing seasonal temperature fluctuations inside the house. The roof area is about 70 sqm (750 sq ft).

The question is, who has experience with a green roof and what are the actual costs? What can be done by yourself?

The roof should remain a roof, meaning as low maintenance as possible and without adding usable surface area—just greenery.

Many thanks!

Any updates or has anyone gained experience with this in the meantime? I am also currently interested in a house that has a flat roof.
