We want to build a terrace on top of our garage roof and are currently considering possible flooring options. Gravel seems too impractical (ice in winter), and tiles at friends’ houses have become permeable (water damage). Wooden decking is likely to require a lot of maintenance due to rapid weathering...?
We have now heard about green roofs and would really appreciate any experience reports!

I can only tell you that wooden planks are not impractical at all... We have them all over the garden, and they hardly weather at all... You might have to replace a plank every few years, but that’s about it 🙂
And I think they look quite nice, but above all very well maintained....
So maybe reconsider your decision? 😀
