Hello everyone,
We recently visited the construction site of our general contractor. The house had gray windows on the outside, and my husband was immediately impressed.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had to wait a bit before entering the house, and that’s when I noticed that the window handles were white. Then I looked at the windows from the inside – also white. I didn’t like that. For me, both the outside and inside being gray would not be an option.
It seems like almost every new build has gray windows these days. Is gray the new white now, or just a trend, and will the classic white windows make a comeback?
I like white, my husband prefers gray...
What did you decide on?

Hello superzapp,
do you happen to have a picture showing how it looks together? Sounds very interesting
Thanks a lot and best regardsSure, happy to share. You’ll just need to be a bit patient. Roof in 2-3 weeks, windows and doors around mid-December. Plaster? In a few months when the weather is suitable.

It’s not just the windows, almost all roofs are dark now. The trend changes roughly every 20 years: around 1970, all roofs were black; by 1990, mostly red until around 2005. Since then, back to black. According to my prediction, red roofs will be back from 2025. Looks like we’ll be back in style in about 5 years... 🙂
Hello,
back to the topic:
We originally wanted anthracite on the outside and white on the inside.
Somehow, we are now favoring anthracite both inside and outside.
The windows (anthracite on the outside, white on the inside) are supposed to cost an additional 3200 € (euros).
We haven’t asked about anthracite on both sides yet, let’s see how much more that costs.
There are also reportedly fully colored windows, does anyone know more? Cost?
We haven’t had a chance to ask the builder yet.
Regards, Olli

I was just about to mention and recommend Gealan as well. I’m not sure about the additional cost – also because I usually only recommend Gealan for colored windows (simply due to its unique feature; other manufacturers, in my opinion, can achieve white just as well). I don’t find anthracite on the inside paired with white to be too extreme; at our sales location, we had a dark brown close to anthracite against white walls. However, I consider the color integrated during manufacturing to be higher quality than a foil finish – but that doesn’t change the cracking issue on unshaded south-facing sides.
