ᐅ Gray/Anthracite-Colored Windows – The New "White"?

Hello everyone,

We recently visited the construction site of our general contractor. The house had gray windows on the outside, and my husband was immediately impressed.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had to wait a bit before entering the house, and that’s when I noticed that the window handles were white. Then I looked at the windows from the inside – also white. I didn’t like that. For me, both the outside and inside being gray would not be an option.

It seems like almost every new build has gray windows these days. Is gray the new white now, or just a trend, and will the classic white windows make a comeback?

I like white, my husband prefers gray...

What did you decide on?

Every time a window is open, you can see the darkness.
However, it is not unpleasant or noticeable.

When did your spaceship land on Earth, or how long were you in a coma that anthracite windows seem new to you?

In the past, clinker brick facades were common, so white window frames were acceptable.
Now, due to budget constraints, almost everything is rendered white –

Not only because of budget, but also because there are now better wall constructions and plasters/paints available that make clinker brick facades less attractive in terms of cost-performance.

But yes, this exactly leads to more colorful windows again. White frames only became common with uPVC. Before that, they were simply brown wood...

But it doesn’t stand out unpleasantly.

We want white on white, but I don’t mind at all when friends have the darker frames that “stand out”…

Frame and handleless design. Remaining parts are aluminum. Anthracite has been in style for a long time. The trend is moving towards super matte finishes. It only causes problems (scratches, dirt adhesion, different thermal expansion, etc.). Build the house for yourselves, not based on what is supposedly modern right now.

Wood-look exterior, white interior.

We are considering the same. Wood-look windows, anthracite roof, anthracite front door with wood elements.

In the end, it’s a matter of personal taste. It would have bothered us.

White is timeless. For that reason, we want to add some color elsewhere. However, the facade would be repainted faster than I would ever replace the windows :-P
