Hello everyone,

We recently visited the construction site of our general contractor. The house had gray windows on the outside, and my husband was immediately impressed.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had to wait a bit before entering the house, and that’s when I noticed that the window handles were white. Then I looked at the windows from the inside – also white. I didn’t like that. For me, both the outside and inside being gray would not be an option.

It seems like almost every new build has gray windows these days. Is gray the new white now, or just a trend, and will the classic white windows make a comeback?

I like white, my husband prefers gray...

What did you decide on?

I often see a very light yellow facade paired with a red roof.

We will also probably choose a red roof with a light yellow facade. I am really looking forward to it, as I find this combination very cheerful.

We didn’t have the courage to really color the facade. So it will be white. However, it is still possible that the gables will get a vertical light gray stripe. That was/is at least the plan.

For us, it was truly a risk to move away from white for the facade. White is just a safe bet. We were sure that we wanted white. Over time, however, we increasingly felt that it was simply boring. In the end, we were undecided and chose this muddy yellow tone. That was really a stressful time. We had an idea but were very afraid that it would look completely different in reality.

In the end, it turned out to be one of the best decisions for us.

Hello, we will also be getting white windows and thought it would be nice to have a red roof to make it look a bit friendlier.

However, it has now been suggested that a dark roof would better "blend" with the photovoltaic system.

We are reconsidering now ☺️

Red roofs are disappearing ... because of photovoltaics!! 😱

Wow, I have to quote myself and apologize for the awful German.
Note to self: speech-to-text on a mobile phone without proofreading is a terrible combination.
