Hello,

what is a good gift for someone moving into their new house?

It can be a bit more expensive... however, the owners already have (almost) everything. I was thinking of something practical, like a video surveillance system or a new garden hose setup.

What else might a new homeowner find useful?

Hello,

a gift card for the next hardware store is always appreciated. Otherwise, ask if there is a wish list (e.g., Amazon). I prefer targeted gifts.

I am currently considering what we still need now or have needed after moving in: gardening tools, lawn mower, water barrel, compost bin, mailbox, decorations, plants (indoor/outdoor), shrubs/small trees, garden hose/irrigation system. Of course, some or all of these might already be available.

Vouchers have a big advantage here: possible options could be hardware stores/furniture stores such as Ikea/plant nurseries/tree nurseries.

Thank you. There are already some great ideas here... I wouldn’t have thought of these myself.

I would also gift (outdoor) plants. From bulbs to trees, there is something for every budget (and occasion), and people usually lack the funds for this after building a house.

Basically true, as long as you are sure about what they would like. We received plants for the garden as a housewarming gift, and I didn’t even know where to put them... and there’s also an insect hotel still standing around.
