Hello dear forum community,

We received the quote for our tunnel fireplace today. Could you please tell me if it looks good or if there’s anything else I should consider?

Glass heating door W67 x H56cm (W26 x H22 inches) with external fresh air ventilation, self-closing, infrared-coated
1299,- net

Firebox insert including 1 self-closing glass heating door W67 x H56cm (W26 x H22 inches), infrared-coated glass, fresh air supply with 1 heat exchanger (water output depending on wood consumption 14 - 22 kW)
4260,- net

Heating output: 80% water, 20% into the room

Of course, we still have a consultation appointment, but what do you think — what other costs might be involved? Installation? Inspection? What additional expenses should we expect?

Thank you very much

Yes, exactly – that’s what I meant. You should contact your local chimney sweep early on (before signing the contract) and get their recommendations regarding:
- The chimney (multiple flues, cross-section, possibly air supply)
- Possibly external / room-air independent air supply
- Avoiding negative pressure inside the house (negative pressure monitor) in combination with your decentralized ventilation system
(clarify with the manufacturer how this should be electrically controlled for decentralized units…)
- Avoiding issues with the exhaust hood and the chimney (reed switch on the window)

This is not straightforward, and ultimately your chimney sweep can be a major spoiler…
Chimney sweep rules… Therefore, be sure to clarify these topics in advance.
