Hello dear forum community,

We received the quote for our tunnel fireplace today. Could you please tell me if it looks good or if there’s anything else I should consider?

Glass heating door W67 x H56cm (W26 x H22 inches) with external fresh air ventilation, self-closing, infrared-coated
1299,- net

Firebox insert including 1 self-closing glass heating door W67 x H56cm (W26 x H22 inches), infrared-coated glass, fresh air supply with 1 heat exchanger (water output depending on wood consumption 14 - 22 kW)
4260,- net

Heating output: 80% water, 20% into the room

Of course, we still have a consultation appointment, but what do you think — what other costs might be involved? Installation? Inspection? What additional expenses should we expect?

Thank you very much

Somehow, this unit still needs to be installed – I’m thinking it will be built using fireclay bricks.

There will be more to come… at the moment, this is just a list of materials…

In my experience with other finishing trades, the formula material costs = installation costs has often proven accurate…

You shouldn’t overlook the connection to the heating system and any additional work required on the heating technician’s side due to system specifics. The thermal safety valve also adds some cost. Altogether, I’m expecting a price (just for the stove installer) just under 10,000 euros.

You guys have also picked a Mercedes model, after all.

By the way, I find the door’s aspect ratio unfavorable. It looks too square. Nowadays, people are mostly used to 16:9.

I also think that the 20% heat output into the room is somewhat optimistic.

I will bring up the size again, I would prefer it to be more elongated, as you already mentioned...
Can you recommend manufacturers that aren’t so premium-focused?
This was the first quote; we still have some time, but you have to start somewhere... Of course, we will get additional quotes...

But basically, everything that is needed is included, right????

Are you installing a cooker hood and/or an extractor fan?
In that case, a reed switch or a USA sensor will also be required at the window.

We will have a decentralized ventilation system and an exhaust hood in the kitchen... Or are you referring to something else????
