Hello,
We were quite certain that we wanted an air-to-water heat pump, but now we are considering whether a geothermal heating system might be the better option. This would cost us 2,500€ more for the permits and drilling. Is the additional 2,500€ really worth it?
Does anyone have advice that could help us with this decision?
We have also heard that geothermal systems are significantly more efficient than air-to-water heat pumps.
We would be very grateful for your tips and information.
Regards

Sorry, I don’t mean to discourage you, but this price estimate seems quite unrealistic to me. What system is included in the quoted price?

Kind regards

This is an offer price that is only valid for a limited time. This offer comes from the company with which we will be building our house. It concerns a "Viessmann Vitocal 222-G" unit.

A typical customer bait offer.
Whether an air source heat pump or a ground source heat pump is more suitable can only be determined precisely based on the specific conditions. For this, the building’s heat load as well as the actual energy demand for heating and domestic hot water production must be assessed. Only then can a solution or manufacturer be assigned. Air source heat pumps usually have a slightly lower annual performance factor compared to ground source systems, but they are generally less expensive to purchase. Good modern split units are capacity modulating, meaning they adjust their output according to demand! This largely prevents costly short cycling, which is still hard to avoid in ground source systems. The storage tank seems somewhat undersized for a heat pump as a heat generator. The promised annual performance factor is unlikely to be achieved.

Okay.....
how can the actual energy demand of the house be calculated?

Based on the specific building data (thermal envelope and ventilation), the climate location, and user behavior.
