Hello,

We are currently planning a geothermal system with compact horizontal ground collectors and want to install a rainwater infiltration system above the collectors. So far, so good... However, in our case, the rainwater from the roof surfaces first flows into a cistern with a capacity of 5 cubic meters (5,000 liters). When this cistern is full or during heavy rainfall, the excess water partially bypasses the filter unit and directly flows into the overflow, which then feeds the infiltration system.

Rainwater is always warm and adds heat to the ground. If it is stored in the cistern, it cools down, so the water entering the infiltration system is no longer as warm... Has anyone had experience with whether this is a problem or if the effect is minimal compared to the rainwater that naturally seeps into the ground from the lawn surface? In the near future, water from a garden shed roof (directly) and possibly runoff from the courtyard area will also drain into this system.

Best regards
