Hello everyone, I recently received my Ikea Metod kitchen with glass fronts and am now facing the challenge of cleaning them gently. I definitely want to avoid streaks, as they are especially noticeable on glass fronts, and above all prevent scratches completely, since the surface seems delicate. My previous cleaning attempts with regular all-purpose cloths unfortunately resulted in slight streaks and even small scratches, which is obviously not ideal.

I am interested in the most effective method to clean the Metod glass fronts. Are there specific cloths, cleaning products, or techniques you would recommend to clean the glass without leaving streaks or risking scratches? What tips can you share from your experience when it comes to caring for Ikea Metod glass fronts? Many thanks in advance for your help!

I recommend distilled water, especially if your tap water is very hard. Hard water often leaves streaks on glass surfaces. After cleaning with a microfiber cloth, wipe dry again with a dry cloth to prevent water spots.

For the care of Ikea Metod glass fronts, it is also important not to use harsh cleaning agents such as alcohol, ammonia, or chemical glass cleaners, as these may not damage the glass itself but can destroy the thin coating. Additionally, you should always apply gentle pressure and avoid circular motions, as these can cause scratches when cleaning fine dirt. Straight wiping movements with a clean microfiber cloth are ideal.

That sounds really frustrating. I can confirm that some all-purpose cloths, due to their rough texture, can quickly cause fine scratches. It’s definitely worth investing in suitable microfiber cloths and treating them carefully. I have also experienced how a small wrong move can ruin the shine. But with patience and the right products, you can manage it.
