Hello,

the preliminary planning of our multi-generational house is almost finished. I have made some changes to the current plan.

Originally, two full stories were planned. However, this is no longer feasible because the roof is now designed as a gable roof and must conform to the building area regulations, with the roof side facing the street.

Well, I think we have made the best of the situation. One point to consider might be raising the knee wall from 1 meter to 1.25 meters (3.3 feet to 4.1 feet). However, we also need to pay attention to the overall building height so that it fits into the surrounding landscape.

I would now appreciate your comments on how you like our room layout. It’s certainly not very common^^

Best regards

So,

yesterday was the final meeting. The parents-in-law really wanted a side window in the living room instead of a skylight, so that’s what we went with :p

Basically, not much has changed. The dormer has been made wider. Overall, we are now at just under 195 m² (2,098 sq ft).

I would reconsider the idea of not having a storage room. Based on early experience, it turns out to be quite necessary in daily life. After the first few weeks in the house, I don’t want to be without either the utility room or the storage closet, even though our heating system is located in the attic.

You can never have too many windows. I appreciate every single one. Since we didn’t want roof windows due to heat exposure, insulation, etc., we used narrow side windows and skylights instead.

Brightness is very valuable.

Hello everyone,

I haven’t been here for a while because I’ve been working on my new build and still am.

Those interested can follow the progress of our construction here.

Many thanks to the forum for the support with my questions.

The next project I’ve already started is the terrace ^^. I’m currently setting the edging stones with a foundation.
