I am currently deep into my master’s thesis, in which I am researching the phenomenon of "uninformed homebuyers." I believe that all of you, by joining this forum, have already gathered more information than over 80% of homebuyers.
However, there are probably some who only decided to improve their knowledge about homebuilding after encountering initial problems.
I would appreciate it if you could find the time to briefly answer one or more of the questions below.
• What sources of information did you use before deciding to build your home?
• Did you have any prior technical knowledge before starting construction?
• Were there any moments during the construction phase when you felt poorly advised or insufficiently informed?
• On which topics would you like to have a neutral source of information?
• Do you experience difficulties as a homebuyer because you are not "on the same technical level" as the contractors?
• Were there any problems during construction that, in hindsight, you would describe as “If only I had known that before”? (If yes, which ones)
• What three pieces of advice would you give to future homebuyers?
