Good morning,
I just received a steep price increase from my energy provider enercity, raising the cost to 15 cents per kWh starting in August. That’s really tough, and I think prices will rise even further.
It’s a strange feeling to be thrown back so quickly into an energy supply situation where you have to figure out how to keep the house warm. It seems to me that the government has given up on the goal of enabling everyone to adequately cover at least their basic needs.
Goodbye central supply structures; now the winner is whoever has solar panels and a heat pump in their new build, while the others are left out.
Welcome back, coal heating 😕
Frustrated regards,

Would you like to live near a nuclear power plant?
Or next to a radioactive waste repository? The question, as well as my answer, can only be hypothetical, but I would say yes, as long as traffic volume is not increased and there are no other constant noise disturbances. In my opinion, if an accident happens at a nuclear power plant or waste repository, I would rather be close by and die instantly than be somewhat close and suffer a slow, painful death.
I prefer living near a nuclear power plant over living next to a wind farm or an airport. I trust our natural scientists; I am less trusting of politicians and the media. ;-)

@Dogma that doesn’t answer the question of whether you would want to live there.Apart from final or interim storage, I don’t have an issue with nuclear power plants. I could still live with them in Germany.

Nuclear power plants were not and are not to blame for that. I lived in Goslar for 13 years and I can just mention Goslar-Oker. There, children are often not allowed to play in the garden. This gets less attention, while the focus is mostly on nuclear power plants. Personally, I support nuclear power plants in Germany as long as there are so many in neighboring countries and new ones are being built.

danielohondo6 Aug 2022 20:19I can highly recommend Horst Lüning’s channel on YouTube to everyone here.
For those who don’t know him, it’s worth mentioning that he supports and uses renewable energy himself. He even owns a Tesla.
Regarding the topic of gas, he raised an interesting question: Is Russia violating the contracts or not? Interestingly, there’s nothing about this in the newspapers.
In my opinion, the Green Party is driving our country’s economy into trouble with their opposition to nuclear power. On January 1, 2023, it could become problematic if everyone turns on their electric heaters.

The video series is no longer available on his channel. If he has changed his mind, he has not made it clear.
I don’t think it’s a reliable source of information. Of course, it provides an opinion, which is legitimate, but it’s unclear to me where it leads.

Yes, we also started the transition about 22 years ago. However, it was exactly the parties currently in power who relied on gas as an interim solution and successfully pushed it through. That is now backfiring on us. I believe there were few who fundamentally opposed this plan. Gas itself is not the only problem. The real issue is the dependency on Russia. And of course, while the energy transition was decided on, it was only carried out half-heartedly.
If efforts had been more active in certain areas, energy demand would probably be decreasing even more than it already is.
