Since there are no stupid questions, I'll just ask. 🙂 Today we unexpectedly received applications for the installation of gas/electric connections. They thanked us for our inquiry! 😕 We did not make any request! 😕 Is it necessary to have the connections installed by the local utility company (Stadtwerke Herne), or are there other options?

I know cases where even the color of the mailbox is regulated! :-) This is generally a minor issue. However, if the restrictions concern technical installations or the building envelope (e.g., roof), a separate economic assessment should definitely be made before signing any contract ;-)

Best regards

Yes, the rules about trees are included for us as well. For every x square meters (x square yards) of undeveloped area, there must be one tree from the approved list. The height of the wall along the sidewalk must not exceed x centimeters (x inches). Garbage bins must be placed out of sight. X liters (X gallons) of cistern volume are required per square meter (square yard) of roof area. Cistern water must also be usable inside the house (I plan to connect it to the laundry room’s utility sink for washing shoes).

All those kinds of things are included in our regulations 🙂
