ᐅ Gas boiler combined with solar panels or would pellets be a better option?

LexusHello everyone,
We are planning to build a house with a secondary apartment this year. In total, about 235 m² (2,530 sq ft) need to be heated. From the beginning, we decided to heat our house with gas. However, according to our architect, a gas boiler alone is not possible because, according to the Renewable Energy Heat Act, at least 15% of the heating energy demand must be covered by renewable energy sources. Is this correct?
If so, we would consider a combination of gas + solar or gas + pellet stove (hydronic) in the living room.
Which combination would you recommend?
Which gas boiler/gas condensing wall boiler with hot water storage would heating specialists recommend to us?
Thank you very much!

Hello,
This question cannot be reliably answered at all. For this, the standard heating load, the room heating loads, and the hydraulic requirements of the heating surfaces must be known.
Best regards

So, can I also prove the 15% with a gas boiler and a wood-burning stove (continuous operation)? No. Furthermore, the proof must be provided by a professional with the appropriate qualifications. You should consult a real expert (HVAC planner). Otherwise, the project could become a money pit. Best regards
Hello Mr. Koch,
Have you ever actually looked into the real yield of solar thermal systems in single-family homes? Measurements of actual energy output in practice compared with the “optimistic” simulations? Probably not!
Best regards.

Hello, yes the 15% is correct.

...Why use gas and not just pellets combined with a solar thermal system for hot water and heating support? In my opinion – move away from fossil fuels.

I don’t understand this now...?!

Do I now have to prove the 15% and also have it from the heating system or not?
I originally just wanted a gas boiler, but now I have to additionally integrate either solar or a stove (pellet or wood) into the system.
