I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

I understand the desire to have something of your own – because nowadays, unfortunately, things that don’t belong to you tend to be treated carelessly, and when something breaks, nobody takes responsibility. So, no thanks...
What’s wrong with electric? I find gas-powered to be excessive, loud, and annoying. Electric mowers work well, don’t they? Or do you just not want to deal with dragging a cord around... well then... go for a reel mower. Can’t you borrow one somewhere to try it out?

Where we live, this is called a “settlers’ association” with 180 households as members. The annual membership fee is €15 (about $16). On the website, you can see where one of the approximately 100 tools is available for pickup and what the usage fees are. Once a year, the bill is sent by email or you can take it home at the annual general meeting, which includes a shared meal. About half of the members usually attend.
Equipment like log splitters, chainsaws, electric window cleaners, mattress deep cleaners, brush cutters, scaffolding, car trailers, shredders, seed drills, large clamps, saws, fruit presses, large electric mulled wine kettles, fence cutters, rotary tillers, hand plows, scarifiers, leaf blowers or vacuums, circular saws, mini excavators, lifts, and many other items that the men enjoy can be borrowed by the day or hour.
There is also a good lawn mower, but it is rarely borrowed because almost every household prefers to have their own (see Karsten). Oil and pellets are also ordered collectively to take advantage of better prices.
It works quite well (email or phone call and a note if something is broken), and despite repairs, there is enough money left for new purchases, a bus trip (about 60 people) on the annual outing, and more.
