I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

It’s interesting how these stories keep repeating. We had the same mowing challenge during our construction phase. And we had that exact mower!
2100m² (about 23,000 sq ft) of weeds – we were really relieved once we managed to get the building site reasonably clear. Luckily, a neighbor with horses came to our aid and used heavy equipment to clear the rest of the area. In return, they got the hay for their horses.
The first thing we bought after moving in was a ride-on lawn mower. I hope you have already planned for that?

So basically, the request should fit here. It’s about the following: we have a small garden pond AND a young daughter. Therefore, we are looking for a fence to secure it. Does anyone have any recommendations? We have already come across the light panel fence from Melabel, which we like very much. It is a bit more expensive but looks good and is quite flexible to install. But perhaps there are other suggestions as well?

We are currently saving up for a riding mower. I’m hopeful that once we get the initial basic cut done, a regular lawn mower will still be sufficient, as long as we don’t let it get out of hand again. Because even with a riding mower, you still need a regular lawn mower for the finer details.

Seriously, if you’re in good shape, a quality Stiga mulching mower with rear-wheel drive and a cutting width of over 50cm (20 inches) will handle that easily. For many years. We have the Alko Bio mulching mower, which has been running for over 10 years, equipped with a good Briggs and Stratton engine, designed to be maintenance-friendly. Unfortunately, for your purposes, the cutting width of 46cm (18 inches) is a bit narrow. Avoid hardware store models—go to the agricultural supply store where farmers shop, you’ll get something good there. And wait until October, when they are more willing to negotiate. Karsten
